Farewell 360

Through out the course of this semester I actually began to enjoy blogging. Its a great  form of communication and expressing your thoughts or opinions on certain topics. I feel like I got to know a couple of the students better because of their blogs. So I wish everyone  splendid holidays and a Happy New Year!

honoring magic johnson

Earvin (Magic) Johnson’s impact on the basketball world is unquestioned: The Hall of Famer redefined the point guard position, captured five championships and played a leading role in driving the NBA’s international growth. But Johnson’s influence has only increased since he retired in 1996, becoming the chief executive of a billion-dollar company, the public face of a global health cause and a major philanthropist. To honor those diverse contributions, sports illustrated announced that Johnson has been recognized with the magazine’s Sportsman of the Year Legacy Award. Johnson, 55, is the second person and first professional athlete to receive the honor in sports illustrated 60-year history. “It is an honor to receive this award from sports illustrated,” Johnson said. “I grew up reading the magazine, which also gave me my first national exposure in its ‘Faces in the Crowd’ feature. Now, 37 years later, to be recognized by sports illustrated with a tribute that has only been given to Eunice Kennedy Shriver, a woman who has made the world a better place for millions with intellectual disabilities, is very special and humbling.” Johnson will be presented with the award during sports illustrated sportsman of the year award ceremony

Bill Cosby

On Friday morning, it was discovered that someone vandalized Bill Cosby’s star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in California. In recent weeks, dozens of women have come forward alleging Cosby raped them, and many projects Cosby was working on have been killed in the wake of these accusations.Cosby’s star on the iconic walkway is “being cleaned up at this time,” a rep for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce spoke on Friday.“When people are unhappy with one of our honorees, we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways than to vandalize a California State landmark,” the rep added.

Finals Week and its oh so many wonders...

Finals week is here and for many college students this means hell week is here. So here I have provided   tips to relieve stress. I personally know a couple if these that really work for me. So I hope this can help other students in need.

1. Meditate
A few minutes of practice per day can help ease anxiety.
It's simple. Sit up straight with both feet on the floor. Close your eyes. Focus your attention on reciting -- out loud or silently -- a positive mantra such as “I feel at peace” or “I love myself.” Place one hand on your belly to sync the mantra with your breaths. Let any distracting thoughts float by like clouds.

2. Breathe Deeply
Take a 5-minute break and focus on your breathing. Sit up straight, eyes closed, with a hand on your belly. Slowly inhale through your nose, feeling the breath start in your abdomen and work its way to the top of your head. Reverse the process as you exhale through your mouth.
 Be Present
Slow down.
“Take 5 minutes and focus on only one behavior with awareness,” Tutin says. Notice how the air feels on your face when you’re walking and how your feet feel hitting the ground. Enjoy the texture and taste of each bite of food.
When you spend time in the moment and focus on your senses, you should feel less tense.
4. Reach Out
Your social network is one of your best tools for handling stress. Talk to others -- preferably face to face, or at least on the phone. Share what's going on. You can get a fresh perspective while keeping your connection strong.
5. Tune In to Your Body
Mentally scan your body to get a sense of how stress affects it each day. Lie on your back, or sit with your feet on the floor. Start at your toes and work your way up to your scalp, noticing how your body feels.

Trust me when I say these tips truly work!

A Little Motivation for those in need….

The Road Not Taken - Robert Frost - Inspirational Poem

The road less traveled is one of the most well known metaphors about life and the choices we have to make. Don't let the turning point in your life pass you by.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Raw Talent on the Streets of Mexico!

Must check out this talented 4 year old girl

I love when i find videos like this because it shows authentic talent. A lot of the talent in todays industry is all auto tune and focused on image. I miss the belters and ballots from the 90's. We need to bring those back. But our generation gets so bored easily music must constantly change or be semi up beat.

But this is our society….

A woman is taking on Facebook after she claims that the social networking site removed photos of her natural child birth because it “violated community standards”.

Kim Kardashian is naked all over the Internet but @millihill is banned from Fb for posting this birth image Crazy

Milli Hill, a writer, mother and founder of Positive Birth Movement, condemned Facebook for censoring “powerful female images” of childbirth but allowed photos of Kim Kardashian’s nude photos to be shown.

How come some bums are ok and some bums are not. I'm confused Facebook?

Hill, from Somerset, claims that Facebook has put a seven-day ban on her account for a photo of a woman’s water birth.

Hill uploaded the photos onto the Positive Birth Movement Facebook page, an organisation she set up that she describes as a “grassroots movement offering positivity about childbirth.”
The page has over 10,000 Facebook fans, and runs “positive birthing groups”. She told News that the groups are run by birth workers, doulas, midwives and women who are passionate about birth.
“They all run their groups for free, which shows the level of passion for positive change that exists at the moment,” she said. “Most women have had enough of rising interventions, limited choices and the general imbalance of power in the birth room.”
She has not received any comment from Facebook.
